'Sex,' 'Six Feet' Dominate DGA Television Nods Less than a week after three of five Directors Guild of America telefilm dominations went to HBO, the premium cable network scored three of five nominations in the DGA's television drama and comedy categories. Three episodes of "Sex and the City" and three episodes of "Six Feet Under" were honored.On the drama side, "Six Feet Under" creator Alan Ball picked up his second career DGA nomination for the episode titled "I'm Sorry I Lost." Two other "Six Feet Under" helmers picked up their first DGA nominations. Oscar winner Kathy Bates was recognized for the episode "Twilight," while Alan Poul's earned a nod for "Nobody Sleeps."The two non-HBO slots in the DGA pool are filled by Christopher Misiano for the "25" episode of NBC's "The West Wing" and John Cassar, who did the "7:00 AM-8:00 AM" hour of FOX's "24." Neither has a previous DGA nomination.On the comedy side, Michael Patrick King picked up his third DGA nomination for the "Great Sexpectations" episode of "Sex and the City," while Michael Engler's "Hop, Skip & A Week" direction and Timothy M. Van Patten's work on "Boy Interrupted" were praise.Comedy directing legend James Burrows earned his twentieth nomination for his work on the "Last Ex to Brooklyn" episode of NBC's "Will & Grace." Burrows is a four-time winner.The poignant "Goodbye" episode of ABC's "8 Simple Rules" led to the first career nomination for James Widdoes."The DGA Television Nominees represent an extraordinarily talented and diverse group," says DGA President Michael Apted.
